I don’t know about you, but the last thing I want to do is get on a plane, do a lot of traveling, and then get stuck in a hotel room or a rental house.
As it turns out, the people who own this luxury resort (which is located in Puerto Plata) have been playing very elaborate games with the real estate market. They’re trying to turn these three-star properties into six-star properties, so that they can pocket more money every year. This isn’t a bad thing because it allows the owners to get a better deal from the local government.
The problem is that there are a lot of people who arent really interested in any form of luxury at all, only in the kinds of things that are associated with the word luxury. For example, as a luxury, the three-star suites have full kitchens, three bathrooms, and private patios. This isnt exactly a luxury, and not a particularly good use of money.
The problem is that these suites have very few people actually using them. This isnt necessarily because they arent really luxurious, but because the rooms are being rented out by the day. Its one of those things that you cannt really afford to take advantage of until you want to. So a couple of months ago I heard from a client who was paying $800 a night for a suite, but had a need for more space.

The rooms in the most recent resort are being rented by the day, so I’m guessing that the rooms have already sold out.
