If you like to eat, go to Puerto Plata. As for the rest of the island, I can’t say I’ve ever been there but if you are in the mood for a nice beach vacation, Puerto Plata might be for you.
Puerto Plata is actually a beach location with a lot more amenities and modern conveniences than the villas puerto plata in the video. It is however, very far from the city of San Juan.
Puerto Plata is a smaller beach location with a smaller resort vibe. You can still get a good night’s sleep on a hammock, surf the waves, or snorkel, but you’ll have a much better chance of seeing whales. I’ve never been, but from what I’ve seen and heard, I’d wager that many people visiting Puerto Plata have never been to San Juan.
Puerto Plata is only a 15-20 minute drive from San Juan. You can get a bus or taxi from the airport or your hotel to the resort.
